Privacy Policy

AK Operators Union Local 47-74 Inc. (“AKOU,” “we”) runs the store at ak4774.com. This page explains what information we collect when you shop with us, what we do with it, and the choices you have.

The short version

• We never sell or rent your personal information.
• You get marketing emails only if you ask for them: by signing up with our newsletter form, or by ticking the box at checkout. The box is never ticked for you.
• Every marketing email has a link to unsubscribe.
• We collect only what we need to take your order, ship it, and help you with it.

What we collect

When you place an order: your name, billing and shipping addresses, email address, phone number, and what you bought.

When you pay: card details go to our payment processor, Authorize.Net. They are never stored on our site.

When you create an account: your login details and saved addresses. Your password is stored in a scrambled form that even we can’t read.

When you contact us, join a waitlist, or leave a review: your name, your email address, and what you send us.

When you browse: cookies keep your cart and keep you signed in. We also use Google Analytics to see which pages are popular and how people find the store. It reports on visits as a whole, not on who you are.

How we use it

• To process, ship, and support your order.
• To send emails about your order and your account: receipts, shipping updates, password resets, and waitlist alerts. These go out whether or not you’re on our newsletter, because they’re about something you did.
• To prevent fraud and keep the store secure.
• To improve the store, using analytics.

Marketing email is opt-in only

We send news, product picks, and new videos to people who ask for them. You’re added to our newsletter only if you:

• sign up with the newsletter form on our site, or
• tick “Yes, I want to receive AKOU marketing emails” at checkout. It stays unticked unless you tick it.

Placing an order or creating an account doesn’t sign you up. Every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe or change your preferences, and you can also ask us through the Contact page.

Cart reminder emails are opt-in too: you get them only if you tick that box at checkout.

We don’t sell your information

We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share it only with the services that help us run the store, and only what each one needs:

• our payment processor, to take payment;
• shipping carriers, to deliver your order;
• SureContact, our customer-records and email service, which receives the details of each paid order: your name, email address, phone number, addresses, and what you bought and paid;
• the services that send our store emails and host our store;
• Google Analytics, for visit statistics.

We also share information when the law requires it.

Videos from YouTube

Our videos play from YouTube. When you play one, YouTube may set its own cookies, under Google’s privacy policy.

How long we keep it

We keep order records as long as we need them for taxes, warranties, and returns. Account details stay until you ask us to delete your account. Newsletter details stay until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

• See and update your details any time in My Account.
• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, through the Contact page. We may need to keep order records the law asks us to keep.
• Unsubscribe from marketing email with the link in any newsletter.
• Turn off cookies in your browser. The cart and checkout need them to work.

Children

Our store is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page, and the date at the top will change.
